Grading and feedback

Grade tests anonymously

Hide the pupils' names while you grade.

With anonymous grading you do not see who has submitted the submission while you grade. Each pupil is shown with a code instead of the name, for example "Anonymous 4fK9xQ". The code stays the same throughout.

Turn on anonymous grading

Open the settings

Go to Settings on the test's page and select Edit.

Turn on Anonymous grading

Turn on Anonymous grading under During the test, and select Save.

You can also turn it on in the Presentation step when you create the test.

What is hidden

The name is hidden in Submissions, while you grade, in files you download and in the history.

These are still shown:

  • when the pupil started and submitted, and whether the pupil submitted after the deadline
  • points, grade and whether the feedback is published

Names are shown elsewhere

Monitor and the Pupils section on the test's page always show the names. Avoid these pages while you grade, if you want to grade fully anonymously. Since the start and submission times are shown, it may in some cases be possible to guess who has submitted.

Turn off anonymous grading

When you have finished grading, turn Anonymous grading off again. Then you see the pupils' names. The change is saved in the history.
