Accommodations for individual pupils

Give a pupil their own time window, extra time or different settings from the rest.

With accommodations, one pupil gets different settings from the rest of the test, for example extra time or permission to use an ordinary browser.

Accommodate a pupil

Find the pupil

Go to the Pupils section on the test's page and select Adjust for this pupil next to the name.

Choose the settings

In the window that opens, you can choose:

  • Own schedule: a separate time for when the test Opens and Closes for this pupil. Use this to give extra time.
  • Ordinary browser: the pupil is exempt from the secure browser. Only shown when the test uses the secure browser.
  • Own allowed apps: different apps from the rest of the class in the secure browser. Only shown when the pupil uses the secure browser.
  • Own bookmarks: different websites from the rest of the class.
  • Spell check: Same as the test, On or Off.

Save

Select Save. The pupil gets badges in the list showing the accommodations, for example "Ordinary browser".

If the pupil has already started the test in the secure browser, and you change browser, apps or bookmarks, you get a warning. The pupil must then quit Safe Exam Browser and start the test again.

Select Remove adjustments in the window to give the pupil the same settings as the rest again.

If you move the time window for the whole test, the pupil's own schedule moves by the same amount, so extra time stays extra time. If you turn off the secure browser for the test, Ordinary browser and Own allowed apps disappear for the pupil.

Extra time after the test has closed

If the test closed before the pupil finished, you can give the pupil an Own schedule that closes later. If the pupil has already submitted, you must reopen the submission first. See Follow along during the test.

Changes to accommodations are saved in the history.
