Points and automatic grading
How to set points, and how Edulink Assessment grades answers automatically.
Set points
Select a task block and enter the number of points in the Points: field. New tasks are worth 10 points. When the block is not selected, you see the points at the top right, for example "10 points".
A task with 0 points, or no points, does not count towards the test and is not graded automatically.
Automatic grading
When a pupil submits, Edulink Assessment grades the answers that can be graded automatically. You see the result when you grade the submissions.
| How | Blocks |
|---|---|
| All or nothing: a correct answer gives full points, anything else gives 0. | Multiple choice, Number input, Fraction |
| Partly correct: fully correct gives full points and fully wrong gives 0. If the answer is partly correct, you get a suggested score that you must approve. | Multiple options, Multiple number input, Matrix question, Matrix input, Order sentences, Connect columns, Input in text, Dropdown in text, Mark in text |
| Manual: you always set the points yourself. | Text |
Some details:
- Mark in text: each wrong mark cancels out a correct mark.
- Input in text and Matrix input: upper and lower case, and spaces before and after the answer, are ignored.
- A task without an answer key is not graded automatically. You set the points yourself.
The answer key must be right before pupils submit
The points are calculated once, when the pupil submits. If you change the answer key or the points afterwards, submissions that are already submitted are not graded again. Check the answer key in the preview before you publish the test.
Show points to pupils
Under Settings in the editor, Show points decides whether pupils see how many points each task is worth while taking the test. What pupils see of the points in the feedback, you decide when you grade. See Publish the feedback.
